Request

To my cover-exchanging friends, please try as much as possible to
(1) WRITE THE ADDRESSES USING YOUR OWN HANDWRITING
as these give a more personal touch to the cover
(2) PLEASE DO NOT USE TAPE OR STICKERS ON THE REVERSE;
the Philippine postal service damages the cover with scribbling that highly devalues the aesthetic value of the cover, which is what I am after
(3) PLEASE TRY TO USE COMPLETE SETS
or at least same themes when sending covers, but it is okay if this is not possible or if this would be expensive, and
(4) PLEASE USE SMALL ENVELOPES,
not too small, but maybe around 4"x6" or something like that; big envelopes are not very attractive unless they have many stamps.
Thank you!

Österreich

This first cover has the 2009 Austrian Christmas stamps issue and what I take to be definitives. The special, rather heavy cancellation was applied in Innsbruck. My German is very rough, but from what I understand, it is from a Stamp Exhibition held on 6.11.09. As I could not find any information on the exhibition, I do not know why "St. Gabriel" was included in the postmark design.

This second cover has the 2008 Austrian issue for the Europa CEPT theme "Letters." It also has a postage sticker for EUR0.10, which is actually starting to fade!

Hi Myron!

The Christmas cover has the first day cancel for the advent stamp. The first day was celebrated by Austrian post in cooperation with the philatelic association of St. Gabriel. The stamp was designed by bishop Reinhold Stecher and depicts the chapel of Ranui in Villnöss (Southern Tyrol).

The second cover has attached an additional machine label of 10 cent in order to complete the postage of 1.40 euros.

Kind regards from Austria,
Florian

Hello Florian!

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that this was an FDC. I just thought it was a commemorative cover! :-) Thanks for visiting my blog. I have just been to yours and I envy all the nice covers you have, especially the ones sent by your friend Jean Pierre. So many exotic places!

Happy collecting!
